Hi am I expecting to much?
Carefully selected my Audi after much soul and dealer searching.
After receving good price from Aberdeen Audi asked my local dealer if they could match it and after a bit of to and froing they did.
Placed order on 1st Oct for A4 saloon 2.0 Tdi Quattro S Line Exec in Ibis white, Milano Leather, Black styling pack, interior light pack and boot spoiler. Paid my deposit
I waited for over 6 weeks no word from dealer.
I emailed them 10/11, wonering what was happening. to be told they were waiting for cofirmation of delivery from Audi.
Tonight 13th (black friday) e-mail at 5.15 pm told that delivery unlikley before first two weeks in January 2010 and of course I will be subject to VAT increase.
I have already sent e-mail to Audi customer services and I intend to contact Highland Audi tomorrow
3+ months, is this reasonable, I feel like I am being shafted, :zx11:

8 - 10 weeks is normal so add on a couple due to the obvious down staffing over Christmas and it sounds about a week or two too long but it's not far out.

Hi Scotty, sorry what the dealer is saying is that build week is probably going to be early January 2010, 3 months after order surely something is wrong here!!:zx11:

ooohhh build week !! Yep that's a long time! Any explanation?

Try calling another dealer and tell them you're ready to place an order but time is critical and can they tell you when it would be built.

It could be your dealer has used up it's allocation for a while and hence can't order for a while. Some other dealer maybe able to.

I ordered my car from Highland Audi Inverness, and basically they did not order it when they said they would and waited for the next month, when I spoke to them about it they claimed that quotas were filled and that is the way it is!!?!! Unfortunate because the salespersonnel were still saying that it would be coming on time. basically the salesteam hand your order to "THE PERSON" who orders the cars at that franchise (who did not realise that the -30mm s-line suspension has to be specced if wanted!!!!).

I could NOT BELEIVE IT!!! (Victor Meldrew moment)

They basically do not know there arrse from their elbows, my advice stay away from them.

Hi Wicker1,
I have just ordered A4B8 2.0T Q ( 30.10.09), prior to placing the order I was aware that the next scheduled build for this car was second week of January 2010. The timing suited me, price was attractive.... not so sure about any increases for a 2010 delivery ( I have my deposit paid and contract tucked away.)
Hope you do not have to wait too long.
Regards John

Once you've placed an order then within a week you should be able to get a commission number from your dealer. This would also help identify the build week slot that's reserved.

Must stress the point here with regards to Highland Audi, they faxed me the customer order form after I asked them for it, where it stated delivery date and price etc. as agreed at time of paying my deposit. Despite that! for there own reasons they did not process the order until four weeks later. A fact that I only became aware of much later after contacting Customer Services!!

Yes same as Bratty coNtract received, cofirmation number, delivery date etc.
I just wonder if order was late in being placed, they assure me it was not!!
I have contacted Audi customer services to see what they say.
Johnvw watch because if you are not receiving your car to 2010 you may well be subject to increase in VAT!!!

And Wicker1, when you are on the phone to Customer Services ask them to give you the build option codes, then double check that what you have specced is DEFINETLY!! on the build, Highland Audi managed to ommit features that I wanted and claimed later that they were not available at time of order (utter rubbish as confirmed by Audi UK).

Do not want to give the impression that I am on a crusade against that particular franchise but I feel that the service provided was V. poor! Even when I had to resort to getting Company Director Mr Hawco involved they could not come clean!!

Dunk, and Good Luck!

Worth pushing again perhaps?

Hi Noel, I think that Wicker1`s predicement is not the fact that you can order an Audi and have it delivered on time (or Earlier!) with a NORMAL dealership. But IMO Highland AUDI has an enormous sales footprint, and although in a pretty Low concentration of people/SQ Mile the people there are purchasing AUDIsī. The prob is why when you want to order your car, DO they not advise you that there quota for this months orders is full (of course you will go to another franchise ie. aberdeen), it is misleading and NOT IN THE SPIRIT of buying a car from a trustworthy representitive of AUDI(UK), (they are an independent administrating franchise???)

Dear Bratty,
It`s been three weeks now and still no commission number.
I have never tracked the build of a car before but want this number to verify that the order was placed in October 2009.

Where can I get a list of the build car codes or confirm that the specs/codes for my car will be as ordered ?

Any suggestions in regard to just how I can track the build ?
Regards John

Ring Audi (UK) customer services, the commision number is only allocated when the Factory accepts the order from the dealership. The Customer Order Form that you should receive after ordering the car should have enough info to identify your vehicle for customer services to work on. Some of the personnel at the helpcenter seem to have more ability to help than others!! Just keep trying.

Audi UK Customer Services :- 0800 699888. They can normally dictate the build spec codes to you over the phone (PT5, 1BV, etc) then have a look on the tinternet (igorsworld????) and work-out what you have got?

Good Luck, but it should!! not be necessary for ayone to have to go it alone when ordering a (very expensive) car:confused:.

just had a look at the scan of my Vehicle Order Form (VOF) and it states that my order was placed on the 10/03/09 and it HAS!! a commission number, but I know the order was not placed until 04/04/09. I cannot remember when I started to get "ants in mee pants" about the situation and request the VOF to be sent to me, but I believe it was around the first of May, which means contrary to what the salesman told me when I turned up to pick the loaner (lying shiiite!) he must of known that there was an inconsistency with the details.

errm not sure if you count differently to me then as I make that 8 weeks which I said was at the lower end of normal .

The slight variations depend on many things including the dealers allocation of build slots.

Dear Bratty,
Rest easy, I am not he.
I am getting very concerned about the reluctance to give me a commission number. I have phoned twice, emailed and will fax, as evidence that I did place an order ( I have deposit receipt) and to indicate that the order was placed in October 2009.
I assume once the dealership places an order ( with Audi Aust.) for a spec build, a commission number is issued.

Is this delay unusual, in regard to the projected build date will not be until early January 2010 ??
Beat wishes to all

Call Audi Customer Services and tell them you don't trust the dealer so you want to confirm an order has been placed. You've tried multiple times to get a commission number and they won't pass it to you.

That should get things moving ;)

JohnVW, I assumed (due to your remark about TAX increase in the New Year) that you have ordered the vehicle in the UK? What is Audi Aust.?

Dear Bratty,
Audi Australia (where you bloody sent us all those years ago).
I made a few phone calls in regard to the delayed commission number. I had requested a 2010 build and plate, with a variety of options to be delivered by end of Feburary.
Evidently this has caused the delay because the commission number will not be available until mid December. I must admit I really do not understand the manipulation of the ordering process, merely wanting to confirm the placement of an order in 2009. The projected build start date is not until the third week of January.
It was encouraging having the Dealer Principal ring me after a short conversation with Audi Aust.
I was dissappointed that the excitment of the purchase was turning to frustration, due to salemans lack of knowledge and follow up. They were very surprised that I requested this information as I wanted to make sure the car was built with all the options I had requested.

John, Sounds like Audi salespersonnel seems to the pe-dominant problem when placing an order. And I also had become frustrated at the lack of explenation from those concerned, so much so that when I finally picked up the car I was totally apathetic towards it. I have since come to like it!

Good Luck, and hope when it finally arrives it is as you ordered.

Welcome All,
I trust you did not suffer from the brown bottle disease over Xmas.
I am not expecting my pride and joy until late April/May 2010, but am constantly reading about cars being delivered with the wrong specs. I now have a consignment/commission number and will not have an order number until mid/late January 2010.
I was led to believe I could track the build of my car, now informed all I can track is the shipping and berthing details ( what joy).
Is it possible to check the build specs are correct as to ordering ??
and if so how??

With an order number I hope I can get an engine number, with that number if I go to Erwin will that give me any idea of the car specs. I will be just so ****** if the car is wrong,
Best Regards
John
ps. for the uninitiated 'brown bottle disease' is that wretched alcoholic beverage.

Ask your dealer to email you a the screen prints from their ordering system. It's a crap old system (soon to be replaced) so they'll probably have to print it and then scan/fax/email it.

Normally you can't track too much apart from asking them for the build stage. This will give you an idea but it's never that enlightening. Audi Customer services can do it (as you have the commission number) but they'll ask you why you're not asking the dealer.

The dealer can do it but now they've for your money they may be less responsive than you've found so far.

Have been waiting very patiently until the third week of January, as per the build date and VIN number. No one from the Dealership seems to want to return my call ( the VIN No. is ????). Got pooie and rang the Audi Aust HQ. The Build date has been revised to fourth week of February ( arrival June??). Bugger

Very poor indeed. I really expected just so much more. All my correspondance will now be with Audi Central customer service (sigh), at least they return my calls. I guess $80K AUD is small fry for these big players. This is turning into such a disappointing experience ( but I am happy I have located an independant mechanic, so fu.. them. )
With apologies, Regards John
