high pitch turbo noise

hi, i have a 56 plate passat 2.0 tdi (140) and recently when the turbo comes in it makes a not normal high pitch noise,also when at high revs(3500-4000rpm) it cuts out completley and the coil light flashes so i have to knock the car off and restart it and its fine then untill i go up to those revs again.:1zhelp:

It's going into limp mode, either because turbo boost pressure is too high or too low. You need a code read to find out. It's not unusual for the turbo vanes on that engine to jam and cause over boosting. The high pitch noise could be an air leak but it could be the turbo dying. Code read will point you in the right direction.

Exactly what mine did before the turbo hose split open. The noise was air escaping from a small hole when under high pressure. evenentually it gave way and split open. Cost about 400Euro at the time as it happenned half way through Germany!!
