Does a new battery needs to be reprogrammed or coded into the ECU on audi a6 c6? (2.4l petrol). Thank you
Hi, I only just bought my C6 a couple of weeks ago and when going through things realised the car was programmed for a 92Ah AGM battery whereas it had a 110Ah wet Yuasa fitted.
I just updated the part number to match the wet 110Ah batteries and changed the brand and incremented the serial by 1.
I did read that just incrementing the serial by 1 should be enough to let the car battery management know a new battery is fitted.
Not sure exactly what it changes, my car is in the garage for a turbo refurb currently so hoping it will sort the low voltage messages I sometimes got at startup - the car had been stood prior to me buying so worst case if it doesn't recover I'll need to fit a new battery at some point.
You can do it via VCDS, Carista etc.

some do some dont, depends on the BCM fitted. My 07 c6 couldn't be programmed but i have heard of 05/06 c6s that were.
you cab get away with it if you swap like for like - but if like aido you should really get it done as the car would have been charging a lesser battery so it makes sense you were getting the low voltage message
