Hiya i have also posted this in the VCDS page as im not sure which place is best, i hope this ok to also go in this section

Hay here's my question Guys ....here's the short one ... I got a free quick VCDS test done today but i have no idea what the results (I'm a novice) are so any help please?

The longer one....
i have a problem with my beloved Passat 2005 B5.5 1.9tdi 130bhp that started 2 days ago. (i think) The turbo is not working properly, i choose to drive in low rpm otherwise the turbo kicks in and then it jolts a little bit as it works then doesn't then works then doesn't reasonably rapidly in quick succession.
I have spent hours reading up on here and looking at videos on youtube and i think i now have JUST enough knowledge to know it could be one of many things lol! such as.....
split pipes, Fuel filter(?), Fuel pipe blockage, blocked Turbo vane actuator (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_nkw=actuator), EGR blocked with Crud in general, Reverse lights fuse (reverse lights do work tho!),
Bad MAP sensor (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_nkw=map+sensor) (i removed and sprayed it with Halfords (http://www.halfords.com/) Electrical contact cleaner)
A Bad MAF sensor (I didn't have a 5 star Torx security bit, so removed the complete unit it is screwed onto from the top of the air filter box cover and sprayed as best i could, probably done nothing tho as i couldn't get close enough, i have ordered a correct torx bit)
or basically the turbo on its last legs

The orange coil light does not flash to suggest a fault code has been logged!

My questions are - does the picture show what has been tested.

- do the readings show something is not correct or above or below what it should be, basically what are the results showing?
- is there some specific test the guy could have done to find a fault as im not sure how extensive the test he did was
-can you tell by the picture what he tested for? was it just the MAP sensor?
-Last question what the bloody hells wrong? i love my Passat LOL https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/confused.png im hoping the results show its just a bad MAF or MAP?

The very kind lad said he is not to up on the VCDS system so i should go to the garage down the road to ask them what they think of the results shown in the picture....
Turns out they don't use VCDS they use a snap-on test system? so he didn't look at the picture i wanted to show him and has booked it in for him to test it himself (£66 to plug in and test it)

like i said i have read up for a few hours and watched videos to try and give me more info before i post this as i am a newbie to this so please be kind lol
ive tried to include as much info as i could in the hope some of your knowledgeable guys can give me some help and advice please https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/smile.png

on a quick read over i am going to say sticky EGR as the duty cycle is way down.

None of that data relates to a probaly boost issue, he needed to check the fault code memory; just because the MIL doesn't come on doesn't means a code(s) isn't stored for boost delivery problems. An EGR fault SHOULD bring on the MIL but not always.

Thanks for the reply's guys, Crasher what's an MIL ? (I Am very new to this, 'Very' being an understatement!, keen to learn tho lol)
i have taken the EGR off and it looks pretty dirty (see the pics) so I'm going to clean it.
i have Mr muscle oven cleaner and Halfords electrical contact cleaner (solvent) which one would you use
and do i need to apply anything to the rubber seal end before i screw it back together?
cheers Ben

Hay i cleaned it, not spotless but 95% is off, i have a felling thats not the issue tho as the part of the rod where the valve moves up and down was clean, thus showing it was probably still going up and down
ive left it unassembled so tomorrow i can spray a can of turbo cleaner into the turbo!

That is water based and causes the turbine shaft exhaust side piston ring to rust and start leaking plus the vane actuator ring rusts and sticks even more, it is useless at dissolving the carbon. If you took it apart and soaked it overnight in an ultrasonic cleaner it still won’t shift it, it has to be bead blasted off.

i cleaned it with mr muscle and it is a lot better than it was probably 90% better but not totally back to normal tho. ideally i need to take it off and clean it properly but tbh ive never done anything more than an oil and filter change on my cars before so removing and cleaning the egr and manifold + Mr M cleaning the turbo yesterday was by far the most ive ever done! i think taking the turbo off could maybe be a bit too much for me, i probably could do it if a had a ramp and nothing went wrong! anyway ive booked it in for a snap-on plug in test next week. is snap on testing any good?

They are much easier to do than a transverse engine but I do think you would need to get it up on stands or ramps and I don’t like them.

Hey, well after using Mr Muscle on the turbo it was much better, but now after driving only about 40 miles its back to how it was. i.e bad lol
When i was cleaning the turbo with Mr Muscle! i was moving the (actuator) rod up and down with my fingers to hopefully free up the veins a bit. it was really hard to move it and it didn't seem to go up and down much so to double check i bought a hand held vacuum pump pressure tester and when using that it goes up and down fully nicely, but the problem still remains, does that give any better idea as to if its the turbo that needs changing? Both the actuators on the turbo and the egr seem ok (two pics)
Cheers

It needs to come off, opened up, bead blasted and rebuilt. Send it to Midland Turbo.

Brilliant link thanks for that, I found a split turbo pipe, the one that come out the bottom of the cold side of the turbo, so im hoping that's the problem! i have a funny feeling its not tho!
