I have a strange noise when vehicle returns to idle after deceleration. This is intermittent and only happens sometimes.

Possibly related but I am not sure, I have these error codes, but with no dash warning lights and the car drives fine.

In test mode the actuator seems to work fine, however there are some noises when it is manually moved which I am not sure if normal.
Refer to video here: Audi SQ5 Plus (2016) electronic actuator in operation - YouTube (https://youtu.be/r7MeSNDU4is).

The actuator link arm does not move as smoothly as I would have expected under stationary condition. This may be normal though.

I am not sure if the last 2 videos are perfectly normal, and whether the error codes are related to the noise, but I have been trying to diagnose this for some time wioth no luck!

I have a Autel MP808BT diagnostics scanner, so far only utilised the basic features. Is there guidance for specific tests or readings I could take to help?

Thank you!

That sounds like the DMF is falling apart, what is the VIN?

That sounds like something heavy trying to break loose. My initial thought was DMF.

Is DMF the dual mass flywheel? It sounds more like thumping air coming from the air filter box, but it is very hard to tell, and normally only last for a few seconds. That video was the first time I managed to get to front of car before it stopped, and only happend by leaving in drive with parking brake on. If the DMF any pointers on how to diagnose further?

It is a torque convertor on that gearbox, the 8HP55A aka 0BK. The front crank dampers are also a known failure, a noise through the airbox would suggest a cam tarin inlet valve failure which I have not seen on that engine BUT we have seen a lot of problems with those boxes.

What doe you think about the actuator movement and error codes? Would you guess these are independent of the thumping air noise?

It is possible as the sound could easily travel down the air intake but from a recording it is impossible to say, I would need by head in there and at the moment my right ear is duff anyway.

An update on this. The previous DTC codes are have been cleared by repairing the actuator but the noise remains and is becoming more frequent. I have now managed to get a recording inside of the intake pipe. Hopefully this offers some more clues? I have driven quite a few hundred miles and there are no current or stored DTCs but the noise is there on every drive.

The first step is to find out which head the noise is coming from, on Monday remind me and I will check for TPI’s.
