Hi.
I have an a6 avant 3.0 diesel 245ps.It is the CDUD engine. I have had the following code from vcds. 10382-coolant valve for cylinder head, P199E 00(047) open circuit. I am struggling to find what it is and where it is on the engine so I can check it and replace if necessary. Could anyone help me? I have asked on the vcds and been told it is a concern with the N489 cylinder head coolant valve which is located on the left front side of the engine. I cannot find any info or pictures of this item and even contacting my local audi, they don't know what this valve is. I am a bit stuck!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance

The cylinder head cooling solenoid on your engine code cdud is a 2 terminal solenoid which when checked across its 2 pins the ohms reading should be 10-15 ohms must have a 12v feed at terminal 1 & is earthed at ecu pin no b39

Has anyone got a photo of the coolant valve and its location?

10382 - Thermostat for Cylinder Head P199E 00 [039] - Open Circuit
Was 059 121 737 H, now 059 121 737 AM and £75.41 retail inc VAT genuine but that is vacuum operated

Thanks crasher. Would it cause any issues to fit a vacuum unit instead?

It must be referring to the solenoid for operating the valve, we have done a lot of these valves because they leak, and yes this is called N489 which is on the wiring diagram but does not come up in the workshop information and in ETKA (under that code which is known as an SDC) it points as varies valves but is shown in the wiring diagram as being ECU earth controlled and power feed by the same supply as a few other components such as the electro hydraulic engine mounts, so if the power supply was bad you would expect matching codes. This means the solenoid is in the multi valve that controls the EGR as well. I THINK it is item 41 on page 131-013 part number 1K0 906 283 A... but it could be item 45, 059 906 627 L (now 059 906 627 R), FI suggestion to your VIN indicates both... as well as various temperature sensors. I would follow the vacuum line back and find the solenoid and get the part number off it.

Hey Scotty, have you resolved this?
I had mine complaining for some time now and this morning, it added "Intake Manifold Runner Control Bank 1 stuck closed". It might or might not be connected but it's time to resolve it all.

We had that on an A4 2L TDI a few months back and even a new genuine manifold would not cure it, the problem was the ECU.

Hi Johnny31. I ended up changing the valve which sits on top of the engine, although my problems went a little deeper, with an RAC man poured cold water into my overheated engine which caused cylinder head gasket failure! Ended up with another engine, new turbo and new egr cooler. Had to get a mortgage for it!!
