2010 A4 2.0 tdi, cranks but wont start

Any help would be appreciated,

Whilst driving I notice glow plug light starts flashing but car still driving fine, switched car off but then when I tried to restart it was a bugger to get started again but eventually restarted, engine would run up for like 2 secs and then cut

Anyway once started drove home, everything fine but light still flashing, switched off, ran vag.com nothing shows related to this problem

Tried starting again and first few times engine would fire for 2/3 secs and then cut, now engine just turns over but wont fire at all, tried easy start still no joy - but inlet seems like its pushing air out rather than sucking air in

What should I try next, thanks in advance

Could be as easy as a blocked fuel filter, i had similar issue when i bought my car and a filter service fixed it. Further to this check your fuel pressure regulator (low pressure side) for metal filings, if present it could point to high pressure fuel pump being done in. all this considered mine is a 2.7 so not sure if the same problems exist in the 2l

Nevermind, not sure what caused it but car ate its timing belt but thank you for helping - I will be rebuilding it :-)
