Just bought an a4 1.8t quattro on sunday. 1st off os the temp gauge is stuck on hot even when the car is off, and the second problem is ive a code p0011 you lot will already know what it is so no point on writing ot out, car still feels fine to drive, is the code serious. Thanks

Possible causes
- Dirty engine oil
- Low engine oil level
- Camshaft actuator circuit open or shorted
- Camshaft actuator circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty camshaft actuator
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

It can affect performance significantly or could be intermittent. I would start with the basics checking the oil checking the connection for the cam sensor. at worst I would think you need a new sensor which are not terribly expensive.

You can test the sensors with a multimeter as I had to do so on a crank sensor (engine speed sensor) on my old A3 which took weeks to find the problem I was changing all sorts and mine didn't throw up an error.
