Looking at doing a oil change on my A6 7.7 tdi Quatro (2007), there are 2 drain plugs, what are they both for?

As mine is a 2005 V6 TDi it has the bigger sump plug (yours will differ size/look) but location should be same on yours.

Is yours auto? if so the very first one when going further back is the ATF oil drain and further back is the refill point.

You've got the biggest Diesel engine out there(7.7).
On a more serious note it would also be a good idea to replace the sump plug alen key bolt when changing the oil. You'll notice it has a silver washer that gets squashed when tourqing the bolt up to create a seal between head of the bolt and the bottom of sump.I did my oil yesterday and changed it.It's only £2 or £3 for a new bolt and the silver washer should come with oil filter.Good luck.

I ended up going to National, you can get a 10% off voucher off there web site it ended up costing me £40.00 for oil & filter change, they used Fuchs oil, not worth the hassle doing it yourself. got the advice from another forum member.

Is that for a 3.0 tdi with fully synthetic oil??Considering you need a minimum of 8 litres plus the cost of the filter I can't see how this garage is making any money!!!I personally wouldn't trust a garage to do the oil and filter change on my 3.0 for £40 when the oil alone costs £60-£80.

Why, when we as end users can buy the oil for circa £25 for 5l's off Ebay? I would surmise that a large company like national buys at half this price, so there is definately a margin to be made. Even if not have you not heard of 'loss leaders' in commercial terms to gain new custom? :D
