Hi
My audi A4 1998 1.8 petrol sometimes has a rattle for a few seconds on start up when hot, but is otherwise quiet.
This has been diagnosed by a Local Audi mechanic as the cam chain tensioner which is a bit worn at 150,000 miles - I have had the car for 7 years and the last 70,000 miles.
I think the oil pressure is OK - ie the filter in the sump is probably not clogged - I believe that this problem usually only happens due to sludge formed by a hot turbuo which I do not have - also the oil has always been changed for the correct stuff at the right intervals since the car was new. The oil pressure light does not come on at any time when the engine is running.
Before I change the cam chain tensioner however, I would like to check the oil pressure and have been unable so far to find where to connect a pressure gague. I gather it is somewhere near the oil filter but can not see where.
Can anybody tell me how to find the connection to the oil gallery please.
