Hi,
I have VW Passat, 1.9 TDI, B6 (2006) and can not start the engine anymore. "Parking brake fault" and ESP light appears on the display. However, my parking brake system works fine. I can switch it on and off.
For the first time the same problem happened 2 weeks ago. I was driving in a highway. Parking brake fault and ESP light switched on and ECU stopped the engine. In 20 min everything was fine again.
Four days ago the same thing happened again. However, I could not start the engine anymore. The car is in the workshop right now. They tried to do diagnostics, but could not connect to the computer via OBDII. The tool shows "Link error". They checked the diagnostic tool on another b6, it works fine. Also, they checked fuses on my B6, they are ok. They told me that the problem is probably with the ECU and I have to replaced it.
Is there any way how to check if the ECU is causing the problem?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Erik
