Epu ?

Hello people, back again for more of your invaluable knowledge.

2000 Audi A4 avant estate 1.8 78k on the clock. Was reversing into the drive when I lost all the power from the engine.The car will only idle at 2-3k revs and nothing happens when you press the accelerator. The EPU ? light is lit on the dash, this came on when the power died.Question is what is it ?
What does it do ? and how much am I looking at for repair. The car is only worth a grand or so and I dont want to get rid, but if its not worth it then sadly I will be parting company with my beloved.

First thing is first. Get her plugged on to see what your fault codes are. Then repost

EPC - Electronic Power Control. Its the 'drive by wire' or electronic throttle. Have a look at the accelerator pedal and make sure the plug coupler to the pedal hasn't been dislodged by your foot. Maybe try unplugging and re-plugging. Check the harness is intact.

It *may* be a problem with the throttle valve. But as the other poster suggests, it will have to go on the diagnostic.

A new accelerator pedal assembly is the most likely to cure this.
