Hello, everyone.
I know some of you are interested in the new Mk6 Match alloys.
I took delivery of my Match yesterday and I attach a photo of the alloys (I think they call them 'Crofts').
I prefer the look of the SE alloys over these ones. Oh well.
Regards,
Darren

Yes, I much prefer the Atlanta wheels as they are much smarter and easier to clean and the inlay of grey masks some of the resident brake dust!

Hi Darren,
Nice!
Which engine did you go for, how long did it take for delivery?

Hi.
I went for the 2.0 TDI (140PS).
The car was ordered as an 'SE' on 26th April. It landed in Grimsby as a 'Match' on Thursday 17th June. The dealer received it on Friday 18th June. I collected it on Wednesday 23rd June. So we are talking 2 months. When I ordered it, an expected delivery date was 22 July. So very pleased with the time taken especially when there are folks still waiting for theirs after many many months (although of course with different specs and models).
Regards,
Darren

I like them too - but it's a bit of a double edged sword - they don't look too manky when they're overdue a clean, but equally don't really sparkle when clean because of the grey bits:confused:

I've gone off the painted aluminium wheel look, to be honest with you - they look s bit Passé to my mind.
The fact that they (ordinary 'alloys') are then spay coated with a clearcoat is the only reason they look passable. I now prefer that very shiny finish the Atlantas have on part of the wheels - the 'spokes', if you like.

A pic(s) of the whole car would be helpfull too, see how they fill the arch's & what stance they give etc etc...

What size are they cos they look very small?

16" same as the standard Atlantas of the SE.

Apologies to all, a little off topic this but, question for dgsugden, how many keys did you get with the Match?

2 keys. They are both identical.

Hi. Would it be possible to get some pics of the interior/exterior. Thinking of ordering one shortly and it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Finally after a lot of searching I have found some pics for us all...
These are not mine - I would have cleaned the wheels, added tyre shine and used a better camera, but you get the idea :)
It looks like this one has the optional front fogs

As for opinion on the wheels, i'm still undecided until i see them on a white match - But they look ok :)

What are peoples opinions of the solid black? Was tempted to order in Candy White but still not 100%...

Black fine if you can look after it properly, but looks awful if incorrectly washed (automatic car washes, or just as bad , the east eurpoean sponge monkeys) and any scratches or stone chips will reveal the white primer coat.
White doesn't reveal the chips but might be a bit of a 2009-2010 colour fad
I went for red, still got the issues of white primer but it does hide a fair bit of winter muck !!

When I ordered last year my monthly company car allowance wouldn't stretch to a metallic colour without paying for it myself. Couldn't see the point of that as I would be giving the car back, so non-metallic it was.
I really fancied a white one, but my wife talked me out of it, & I went for black.
I think it was the right choice. As percymon says, white could go out of fashion quickly. Also, for someone of my middleish age, a white golf would be a bit too 'look at me'.
Solid black looks terrific when clean, in fact I think it looks better than the pealescent black as it's a much higher gloss. Does get dirty though.

I, like you, also fancied the white and asked the missus what she thought. I think she used the words 'chav' and 'poser' a few times and as I'm approaching mid-thirties I think she may have had a point. Since then I have been to the dealers and white does look great on the GTI's and Sciroccos but on a more conservative model like the SE/Match where front fogs are not standard etc, it doesn't look as great. Just my opinion though. I saw some in solid black and I think I'm now sold on it...

Why do you like fogs? I've never found a need for them in all the years I've been driving. The VW fogs are a pain in the a**e really because you have to have the front fogs on before you can turn on the rear fog. If it was the other way around I could put up with that. ;)

I have never known a proper fog where fog lamps aid your progress. They are a needless accessory IMHO and are often a nuisance to other drivers on the road.

I wasn't saying that I did. I just think that aesthetically speaking, the car looks better with them in Candy White. I think I have only ever used mine once in about three years so no particular need for them. I do, however, think that the car looks better with them than without.

Have been though some proper fog on the A66 in Cumbria where hire car fog lights have helped. Has maybe happened once or twice a year at most though so would never consider paying extra for fogs (and indeed haven't on my SE!)

I'm going to get fogs mostly for the appearance of the front end!
Also white, mostly because it is a free colour, and the money saved on paint got spent on tinted windows and fogs.
My Match got delivered yesterday. Went for solid black and it looks the business. Definitely the right choice.

Don't suppose any chance of some pics when you get a chance? Love to see how the solid black looks and the interior!
Yeah no problem, will get snapping in the morning!

Here we go Smorg!!
The alloys are growing on me, but think I prefer the SE one's given the choice. It's a great car though & the 140 diesel engine is spot on.
Let me know what you think!

Considering this topic is New 'Match' standard alloys (photo attached) you are the only one thats attached photos and they are a TSI.

So you don't fancy paying another £430 for the deep black pearl metallic then? The metallic looks nicer. ;)
Hi there,
I guess with the colour preferences it's each to their own really. I had both a Golf Mk4 and a Passat 2006 plate in the black pearl metallic but think the Mk6 Golf somehow suits the non-metallic version.
Don't know why, just seems to 'fit' in my mind, and you get to keep over 400 squids in your back pocket (or blow on extras heh!)
I think the piccy you mention above is of a TSI Match, unless I'm missing something really obvious!! Plus I guess you've seen my pics earlier too...
All the best,
Chris.

It could be a TSI Match if they do such a thing.
Those are the only photos in this thread so where are yours Chris? ;)

Hi there Keithuk,
I thought they did that model but if not please accept my apologies. I like your spec btw, I imagine a 170 is a superb car!
I put a few on post 31. I hope you like them!
All the best,
Chris.

I think you will find that TSI denotes the engine choice and not the model/spec - it's awfully funny that you tried to make me look silly, but ended up making yourself look like a plank. :biglaugh:
Would be great to have them photo's put onto photobucket so we can see full size versions!

I'm not trying to make you look silly you're doing a good job on your own.
Yes I know they make one TSI model and all the other three are TDI, I just wondered why that photo.
This isn't the first topic to talk/ask about the new Match. In the other topic they you disputing the VW picture advertised as someone said it had been photoshoped. ;)

Are my mini photos the ones you'd like to see full size? I'm pretty new on here so could you PM me with how you do that and I'll oblige with pleasure if so.

Is it just me who thinks that the Mk5 in Keithuk's post looks really... dated? Quite surprising, really.

I just searche the web for Wolkswagen Golf Match 2010 new and that was the best pic, I couldn't see the back lights if it was a Mk5, I thought the grille looked a bit different I thought it could have been the new look match. There was one on carsuk.net but I couldn't copy it and the VW site is doing maintenance. Sorry guys my mistake.
This is the one that the other topic complained the picture had been photoshoped. ;)
