Hello Paul, yes i would replace the seal also use some dum dum paste as extra seal so it is water tight.Put a run of dum dum in the seals fitting place first then put the new seal on top and reasssemble.

Wife reported funny smell in 130PD estate, checked the carpets - whoopidoo - soaking . I've pulled the battery out cleaned the blocked drain (both sides..) pulled wiper arms / front cover to remove pollen filter, D shaped gasket split in 3 places and perished. Pulled carpets - tons of water.
The road outside our house is heavily cambered so all the water from the roof /windscreen ends up in the leaky pollen flilter area - cosmic.....
Decided to remove passenger seat - easy makes the clean up a lot easier as water was in the rear well too. emptied over 2 gallons - yes 2 gallons of water out luckily not entered CCM module. pulled carpet over to drivers side to let it drain ( Manmade fibres do not hold water well).
All I need is new D joint - anyone any idea of the VW part number?
Loads more fun than watching French GP....

This thread has been a good insight... ive not got any issues with water i dont think but will check the seals etc accordingly.

Its due to go in for a major service so if i ask them to do it then i wont have to i presume?
