    There is no glue, but some big clips on the bottom. I'll have a look tomorrow to see if I've still got the original trim in the garage or not.

    Looks like the bottom of the trim is the bit I was wrestling with
    now I know where they are I know where to stick some tools to help its removal.

    Did this today, thanks for all the pics. Tea spoons work quite well for removing the blanking plate without damaging it.
    Now: 2016 C7 2.0TDi BE with Tech Pack, magic parking, ambient lighting
    Previous: 2013 C7 2.0 TDi S Line
    C6 2.0 TDI LE
    A4 2.0 TDI SE
    and an ancient 80 in the olden days...

    My A6 is on order, and I'll miss the rear cup holders in my passat, well my daughter will. I think I will try a straight swap.

    Most effective Noise Reduction System I have found yet, unfortunately. Just glad the leather seats wipe clean easily....

    Hi Westy, are your rear seats able to fold/split or not? I just noticed two different types of cup holder when I search.

    Yes. Mine is an Avant, and I've got Split/Folding rear seats and the ski hatch option.

    Don't think it would make a different to the part though.

    Great post this, thanks to those who contributed. Have just ordered the tools and will be ordering the cup holder and trim shortly.

    Talking of ski hatch, is this something that can be retro fitted to. Hate the fact we can't get to the boot from the back seat.
