    Hi there

Just purchased a really nice 2005 Bora 150 PD to replace my old 130 (see For Sale section!) and fitted my old V6 4 Mo wheels which are 16" and fitted with 205/55/16 Michelin tyres.

I've been toying with the idea of an increase to 17's and always liked the Long Beach alloys, although these appear to be pretty scarce. I've seen some replicas at Performance Alloys, but wondered what others thought. I'd prefer OEM wheels as opposed to aftermarket, but would consider the latter - RS6's look quite good.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

Also, are 215/45/17 the right sized tyres?

    Cheers

    Paul

    Thanks mate.

Done some reseacrh and 215's are slightly smaller rolling radius and 225/45's are just 2mm larger, so 225's look the better option.

I've also seen the Siata's on eBay and they've got brand new Michelin Pilots on them. Have to confess that I haven't heard of these rims before but they appear to be genuine VAG - do you think they could be Skoda options? The only thing that puts me off a little is the polished rims and possible corrosion.

I'd prefer OEM wheels over reps to be honest and these look very much like the Long Beach's I would really like.

    Cheers

I've gone ahead and bought some of the OEM Siata's - they come with brand new Michelin Pilot tyres too for £500 plus 30 quid courier.

These seem like a reasonable compromise and are a little different from the everyday sorts. I wanted OEM over replicas if truth be known.

I'll post some photo's once they're fitted - apparently they were an option on the New Beetle as well as some Seat's so they're still within the family so to speak, especially as lots of folk have Audi rims fitted!

    Cheers

The new wheels and tyres arrived this afternoon and they are excellent.

If truth be known, I don't know for certain if they are OEM, but they are made by Cromadora, which are very high quality Italian wheels - they used to make magnesium wheels for Fiat and were the italian equivalent of Minilites.

Tyres are actually Y rated which is a bonus.

I spoke with the guy selling them and he bought 300 sets of wheels from VAG apparently.

    Polished rim looks the danglies!

    Cheers

    Get some piccies up!!

Is there much of a noticeable difference between the 130 and the 150?

You might remember that i have a remapped pd100, but going to look at a pd150 tomorrow in Stoke on Trent...

That, remapped should be close to 200BHP and ooodles of torque...

I'll take some piccies over the weekend - the wheels look excellent, they are similar to Long Beach's but have a polished rim.

Nick - the 150 is quicker than the 130 obviously, but it has a little more turbo lag. It's more pronounced after 3000 rom through to the red line whereas the 130 runs out of breath after 3500. A remapped 150 is good for a reliable 190 bhp I hear, but it must be hell for the clutch. Mind you, there are plenty on the forum who have had no issues, so best of luck mate.

130 is going on eBay this weekend as there's no interest anywhere. Shame really, but it has to go.

My 150 has only covered 19K so it's still quite tight believe it or not, but it's actually more economical than the 130 - I'm averaging 55mpg and got 66 avarage on the motorway last week over 35 miles.

    Cheers

    Guys

I've attached a couple of photo's which show the new wheels - apologies about the quality, my camera isn't up to much.

Some will say that ride height needs lowering, but I'm happy with it and it handles/rides just fine.

    Cheers
