    Hi.

Thought I'd update my previous post, as it had wandered off track and the "Subject" was now outdated.

Here's the scenario now. My passat 2004 has th edash warning when the bonet is open.

My alarm keeps going off very randomly, can stay quiet for hours then go off, then 10 mins quiet then off ad infinitum with varying times between.

I've un-coupled the micro-switch but it makes no difference, it still acts the same.

Sometimes, with the ignition on, the warning light is on the dash, start the engine and it disappears, engine off to ignition and it returns. Sometimes it stays illuminated with no keys in!

    any suggestions out there?

Can I knock the bonnet off the alarm "Check list"?
Can I disable the alarm with a fues? (Or any other way?)

Removing the neg batt. connection all the time is getting tedious!

I've done a VAG-COM check, which threw up several faults, which I don't understand, I've posted the readout here https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=99898

Any further diag tests I can do?

Yes, the siren is bugging me (And my neighbours!) but by removing it, it will leave a car with flashing indicators when tha alarm goes off, which advertises to thieves that the alarm is duff, so I'd like to sort it out correctly.

I did clear the fault codes and do an auto rescan before I saved the log, for that very reason.

    thanks though

Short across the bonnet switch which is attached to the bonnet slam panel latch. That is if the bonnet is setting off the alarm.
You can stop the alarm by removing a fuse on the relay plate under the dash I think. There are a number of possible fuses and removing one may disable central locking and alarm. I think one of them will just take out the alarm. It varies with model so you would have to pull a fuse and test to see what happens. Good luck.

I'm assuming it's the bonnet because, now, whenever I turn off the engine (Keys in or out) the open bonnet warning is up on the dash display. I'll try shorting the switch and see what happens.

Where is the above -mentioned "Relay plate" situated please? All I can find near the dash, is the bank of fuses on the side of the dash, that more-or-less butt up to the closed door.

thanks again, will report any success

i found a post using the search feature and it read .

Pulling fuse 58 will shut the alarm horn up and fuse 11 or 44 will stop the system from working

    hope this helps.

This sounds just what I'm looking for as a temp. fix . . . . . . but where is Fuse 58? There must be another set of fuses other than the one by the drivers door pillar. can anyone please tell me where they are, my manual doesn't mention them.

    Thanks

ps whenever I try the "Search" feature, it returns posts that have nothing at all to do with the words in the search
