Plenty of threads about this, here's mine -> https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=74514

Most likely need a new ECU but some dealers are quite competitive. Otherwise, Inde Tech in Milton Keynes (http://www.inde-tech.co.uk/multitronic.html) are experts and will do cheaper than the dealers.

Other alternative is get the ECU reburbished from ECU testing (see http://www.ecutesting.com/audi_a4_a6...c_gearbox.html but you'll still need someone to fit it (and it needs a fresh fill of MT oil too).

I had a standard automatic before on another non Audi car and the flashing selector lights indicated a bad selector mechanism, does the CVT gearboxes have a selector box, think the problem was the selector dried out and the contacts in the selector corroded.

I'm just wondering if this could be the issue rather than the gearbox ecu, which are normally solid when it comes to reliability.

Of course I could be wrong and the selector could work in an entirely different way on a multitronic gear box

Yep, could be the switch but the OP had it checked with VAG.COM, might be worth getting a second opinion?

    Thanks All

phoning around at the moment to get a better price, anyone know of anyone in or around essex.

    Mac

Ps. Not had lights changed yet.
According to Audi the fault is sporadic, and mentioned it may affect reverse gear, so guess i might be looking for a 2nd opinion also.
