Guys apologies for this rather simple question. I am about to buy a used mk5 Golf this week (1.6 FSI) from a trader - and when I test drove it I noticed that the flashing spanner errm flashed in the LED display when I turned on the ignition and then went off after a several seconds. I assume this is the service indicator that has not been reset (or a service outstanding)? as opposed to an engine/ car problem? - I haven't had a vw of 10 years so apologies if this is a dumb question - Martin

yes mate it means the service indicator hasnt been reset or a service is due, some can be reset on the dash others need to be plugged in to reset, its all down to the service type (as in long life service or standard service) i reset them on the scanner at work, hope this helps mate
