The other day I saw an Audi A4 coming towards me which must have retro fitted some White LED's in place of those horid orange looking Bulbs in the side lights which I have got in my car at present.

I could tell there been retro fitted because proper LED's on an A4 are positioned in a sort of "S" shaped, these were in a straight line under each headlight.

So I recon they must of some how replaced the original Bulbs for these White LED's?

Has anyone on here done this mod? How do you get at the side light bulbs? as there deep inside the headlight units? I've had my headlights off the car to upgrade the H7's Dip and Main Beam with brighter lights and would like to do something about these horid Orange looking things??

Check the US Audi Forms.. loads of disgruntled buyers who assumed they were getting the xenon lights have made all kinds of changes to their Halogen DRL's using xenon kits and the VAG leads etc etc.. Some look good, some look worse. Check the 2nd photo down. Those Halogen's look far brighter than mine.

    http://www.audizine.org/forum/showth...rsion-Complete.

The lights you describe sound like the A5 design. Wonder if you can retrofit them onto the A4? Same platform as the A4 so with the right gear they probably could be added to the A4??? I'm no expert though.

Must admit before taking delivery of mine I looked at ebay to get hold of some used Xenons.. Some deals to be found on there. Saw a complete set of xenons go for just £170 a few weeks back, another set went for £310 last week which is far cheaper than if you upgraded via Audi.

I actually like the Halogen DRL's now I've got my SE. Think they look much better in the flesh than in photos.

In the US there are 3 trims - Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. The Premium does not come w/HIDs, hence the upgrades. As for the parking lights being amber- that's standard on all light hosing, regardless of trim. Some people have swapped out the OEM housings for ECodes which come with a clear parking light. Looks MUCH cleaner.

Hi. Please don't be offended by this - but just as a quick sanity check, is there any possibility it could have been an A6 not an A4? A6s have a straight row of LEDs across the bottom of each headlight.

    Just a thought.

, I tend towards that assupmtion

most people at work assume that my A4 Avant, from the side IS an A6 (in quartz grey it does seem to have the effect of being more imposing) but obviously from the front with the Dame Edna Bi-xenons there is no doubt

Hmmm - that may even qualify you to be an honorary member of the A6 TDI club!
