    Hi All,

I've just bought a great Mk5 Golf GTi. It runs fine, but there's something strange happenning with a rear door window. It goes up when I push the window button down, and down when I pull the button up. It does this whether operated from its own switch or from the drivers seat. All the other door windows operate normally.

Note, it also goes the wrong way when I operate all the windows simultaneously using the door key (leaving three open and one shut or vice versa).

It's been suggested that the parameters of the window control module for that affected door need checking. Can anyone confirm this or, even better, help me get it sorted.

    Many thanks,
    Chris

    Chris,

Just a quick one, does there look to be signs that the door card has been removed? I'm thinking maybe that the window may have been broken and when the glass replaced the plug to the motor in the door has been re-inserted inversley?? DC motors work on driving the motor one way and then to reverse them the polarity is simply reversed

Don't know about the module but would seem strange that only one window would be affected.

I would say that the control unit/window motor has been replaced on that side. The unit hasn't been coded correctly for the vehicle.

This needs to be changed to rectify your fault.

    Thanks for the responses.

Can you tell me what's involved in re-configuring the window control module. How mch should it cost, can I buy the hardware to do it myself, how difficult is it to do?

    Regards,
    Chris
