    Hi,

After three days without moving, the alarm on my mk5 tdi started going off at 3am this morrning. After a lot of mucking around and checking things in the dark, i was unable to find out what the issue was.
If you lock the car and the indicators flash to say its set, after 30 to 45 seconds the alarm goes off. You also get a single flash of the indicator after 30 seconds before the alarm goes off. I presume this is indicating a fault???

After having another look in the light this morrning, i noticed that when the ignition is turned on the indicator for the bonnet being open is flashing along with the hood open message. I checked the bonnet and cant see any issue.

I have a code reader and when plugged in it is giving me a fault of:

01330 (J393) central control module for central convience.

When I reset this code it does seem to turn the hood open warning off breifly, but it does come straight back on.

    So my questions are:
    1) does it seem likely that this body control unit is the cause of the problem and if so where is it located and if I get one myself can I change it? or does it need coding.
    2) Could it be the bonet sensor itself and where is this located.
3)And most importantly at the minute, is there anyway to lock the car without activating the alarm. I am worried that at the minute I am having to leave the car unlocked as this is the only way to stop it going off all the time.

Sorry to be long winded, would really appriciate some advice, car is going to vw on wed, but really cant afford a big bill.

by the sounds of it its the CCM thats faulty, it would be proper bad luck for the boot sensor and boot lid sensor to fail at the same time bud as for locking it im not !00% sure but try pressing the buttons on the o/s door pillar by the drivers set, that may disable the alarm and allow you to lock it mate

It is almost certainly a faulty bonnet switch. If you have a dig around you will find it at the front. Bridge the wires for now. Clear code with vag-com. It shouldn't come back. CCM units rarely fail.
