sorry to hear of all the probs you have with the unit. i havent had any probs so far with mine the fakra is just a type of aerial i did notice some degraded signal when i had both wires plugged in so i tried just plugging one in and got a much better signal cant remember which colour one it was. maxidot is the same as VW highline display i guess but ive only got midline so cannot comment on how well the unit works with it. as for the RDS i get all station names up fine on mine.
just installed the rear parking camera, had to mod a wire to get it working but all working fine will include a pic. ipod interface works well can be controlled on the head unit. but sorry to say it sounds like you might have got a duff unit. but only prob i cant seem to sort is as already said will only turn on when keys are in. but i can live with that.

this is the seller ive got mine from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWNX:IT but i had to also get a noise suppressor as when the engine was off the picture was fine but as soon as i started the engine i got interference but that only cost £8.99.

as for the not being able to listen to music while nav is on not really sure havent had a prob with mine bit there is a volume control in the nav settings which controls nav volume and master volume separately could be that otherwise id press the reset button.

Problem is there is absolutely no radio output at all, and that pressing the reset button wipes everything stored on the unit -- something that needed doing EVERY time the multifunction display showed anything regarding the headunit, because it was locking up totally.
If a CD was on, the nav worked fine with the CD

Have emailed the seller, just waiting his reply -- also going to claim return postage as I've already paid post from Hong Kong to here for an item not as described in the listing.

That pic's well freaky! What's the hand?! And the green/yellow/red lines?! Does the camera come on when you put it into reverse, or do you have to press src to get to it? Where is the camera from and where have you put the camera? Cheers,

How hard was it to fit the camera?

Any chance of photos showing step by step install details?

    Pretty please?

this is the noise suppressor http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...#ht_2244wt_911
the camera comes on when you select reverse. when i first installed it, it wouldnt automatically change to the reverse camera i emailed the seller and he told me to run a wire from the reverse light connector (inside boot left side behind carpet side cover, right hand connector of 3) to the pink wire which runs from back of the headunit to the canbus box just cut it. now all works fine . i dont think the unit was getting a feed from the can bus box. a link to the camera seller is in the post above also some pics of the camera itself and where it is.

installing it is quite easy remove the standard numberplate light, just insise and down is a rubber grommit which goes into the boot this is where you feed the power wire and video wire from camera into. ive included a pic to show you where to get the power feed for the camera its the grey white wire and its the blue connector nearest front of car just behind the left cover inside boot. there is also a nut for the earth next to it , cant miss it. i had to get a noise suppressor for mine as i got interference when my engine was running but might have been just my car. if you need one too just wire it between the grey/white wire and the camera. now just run the video wire from the camera down to the head unit i went down the passenger side of car was easy. there is a female wire at the back of the head unit called camera just plug the video wire in there. as in my last post i couldnt get a feed from the canbus box the tell the headunit that the car was in reverse so i just cut the pink wire running from the head unit to the canbus box marked reverse and ran it back to the grey/white wire in the boot. that sorted it fine. heres the pic.

I haven't got a multi function steering wheel, just the maxidot (equivalent to Audi highline)

There is an amplified fakra to normal aerial adapter included in the kit, I've checked that there is indeed power to this, and still no aerial signal at all getting through to the head unit. Aerial on the car is fine, as it's working perfectly on the original Skoda head unit.

It is a lot of money, but for the functions that unit provides a branded unit like Kenwood etc would be in the £1500 bracket.

Check there isn't a perm live/live supply that you have to switch the connectors, this is a well known thing when fitting to a VW or VX car, otherwise the moment you turn it off it loses everything and you have to retune and set it all up again.

With the radio side of things, the ariel working with the oem head and not the new unit will either be the fakra isn't getting any power, or the unit is faulty.

Personally I'd invest some more time in it before sending it back, double check everything, the fakra does have a trailing wire for power on it doesn't it?

Can you post up some pics of the fakra, the iso lead and the steering/maxidot interface leads?
