After only just over 6 months of ownership, my 2.0 tdi 143 is back at the dealers for the second time. The reasons why are as follows:

    1. Engaging first gear sometimes feels like trying to push a bus up a hill in the snow (see clutch problems thread for more info).
    2. My average mpg of 36.6 since i've had the car is awful. 440 miles on a full tank of urban and motorway miles just isn't good enough. Quoted Audi mpg figures are a joke.
    3. Rear driver side speaker sounds like a family of mice have set up shop. Very much blown.
    4. Wind noise at motorway speeds persisting even after the dealers had "solved" the issue the first time.
    5. Definate draft coming from both front driver and passenger sides.
    6. Drl's once again stained, even though the covers were changed at last visit.
    7. Creaks and rattles from around B pillar area.
    8. S-line suspension feeling a lot harsher than normal.

I know that many of these issues have been covered in separate threads, so apologies for this but thought it would be good to share all my "current" issues in one thread.

Going to get another call tomorrow, so will keep you all updated if you want!

Keep up to date as to how/if they solve any/all of the issues.

My 09 2.0TDi SE also suffers from engaging 1st gear problem, poor mpg, (07 SE was giving 50 to 60 mpg new 09 give 35 to 45 for same run), creaks and rattles from unknown location(s)

My 143bhp TDi is only averaging 36.95mpg. Rattle from driver's side and a "buzz" from passenger side. Gears are a bit sticky when cold but not yet bad enough to complain to the dealers yet!

From previous posts over the last few months I knew I wasn't the only one with these issues. I think the more we make a fuss the more Audi may realise that their best selling car has definate issues.

They've acknowledged that there may be a clutch problem and that the drl's "stain" the inside of the headlight covers. They may have to add to this list of known issues if they start to get enough similar complaints.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not on some crusade here. I love my car, and even with these problems it still feels special. I'm a staunch Audi fan but if I spend 25k+ on anything, I expect it to be perfect, and right now it's far from that.

Would be good to see who else is experiencing the issues i'm having.

I started a thread some time ago about 1st gear. I also had the same problem with the B7 I had - Huddersfield Audi told Audi HQ that they could not find a fault even though on an invoice they gave me they mentioned that they had also had the fault!

So keep a note of everything and sit on the sods!!!

My first post on here guys, I've got a 2009 A4 Avant S Line 2.0TDi in Lava Grey. The car has been pretty faultless since I've had it and I enjoy the looks and the drive.

    A few niggly points:-

    1. Poor durability of paintwork at front end, this is my 3rd Audi and I'm by no means an aggressive driver but the stone chips and marks on the front are disappointing. Anybody else noticed this?

    2. Alloy wheels chip easily from debris from roads.

    3. As mention in this thread, my headlights have got slightly stained on the inside (can you get this replaced under warranty?).

    4. Small problem with front bumper paintwork in an isolated area just in front of wheel arch to the side, looks as if the paint has been stretched.melted slightly and looks as if I could peel off the lacquer and paint with my fingernail. Albeit it is a small area but doesn't look like an impact.

    5. At the start of the week the fuel filler cap has now refused to open so I have to use the manual release in the boot.

    6. Got front tyres replaced and the monkeys didn't balance them properly. After a 2nd go the car still doesn't feel like it did before. Its almost as if I can feel every bit of the road surface through the steering wheel with an occasional very very slight vibration through wheel. Maybe not just balanced bang on, will get them to look at this as well.

Funnily enough when 5. happened the sales manager (who I've bought my last 3 cars off) gave me a call, as he does, each year to see how I'm getting on so I mentioned the above points to him. He's agreed that the car needs a paint inspection with regards 1 & 4. 5 is an easy fix and I didn't mention 2 & 4. Car is due for a service in a week or two so I've to mention all the issues and he'll keep an eye on what happens!!

Despite the above still enjoy the car and yes if you're paying £25K+ on a car you expect it to be audi like!!

    Cheers

Happened to me as well on my 2008 Audi A4 TDI 143 (MY2007), garage replaced the "actuator"(?) I think.

    My niggles to date:

    1. Squeaking brakes - has gradually got worse over past 6 months, been into the garage twice and they said they fully skimmed the brakes at a recent service. Seemed to resolve it for a while, but I've noticed it starting again over the last couple of days Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

    2. Worn clutch bearing (grinding noise when clutch pedal fully depressed in first gear) -- had to be fully replaced, luckily under warranty

    3. Exhaust air flap failed in the diesel engine causing a breakdown. Fixed under warranty.

    4. Fuel filler cap not opening (temporary fix was to apply some insulation tape to the inside to create a small flap outside the car to allow me to open the filler cap without using the emergency release)

That's all I can think of for now at least. Notwithstanding the above issues, I still love the car though!
