Repetitive alarm problem

Has anyone experienced a problem with the alarm where it repeatedly goes of every 5 minutes or so? The weird thing is the lights don't flash either.

The first couple of times (when I heard it, cos it's fairly quiet) I looked out the window and thought it was another car down the road, but today I happened to be at the door when it went off.

If i deliberately set the alarm (by leaving the windows down before locking and then waving inside the car to set the motion sensors) the lights do flash - but not when I just leave it locked!

I've disconnected the battery so my neighbours can get some sleep, and so far it hasn't activated - but this obviously isn't ideal.

Any help or advice would be welcome. Cheers!

You need a fault code read to see what is activating the alarm

As above, a VCDS scan would probably tell you where to look.

With MkIV Golfs this was a common problem - washer water woul leak into the rear boot lock and send confusing signals to the ECU as to what's goin on and set the alarm.

Sounds similar here. If the lights don't flash, that's the car telling you it's not secured. The door LED may stay on permanently for a few seconds when you lock it too. Open all the doors and see if any of the door lights are out - this may be a clue as to what's causing the problem.

Thanks for your replies - since I've reconnected the battery it seems to be ok, but I will see about getting a scan done anyway - does anyone know anywhere in the Bournemouth area who can do this?

Also, the lights flash when I lock the car, so everything seems to shut and lock up properly, but the interior light does not come on when either of the back doors are opened. Is this correct?

I Had the same issues on my A4,

the alarm sounding was dud batteries in the alarm sirin unit (in the boot RH side) before repairing, I disconnected it for a while to prevent the alarm going off & previously had to leave the car unlocked,

The interiour lights should come on with the rear doors & could be a few things but it all could be pointing to a faulty CCM under the passanger seat, This can be due to water ingress from the Plenum Chamber, I aslo had a faulty CCM (seperate issue from the alarm sounding) but yours could be linked,

To check the interiour lights do the rear doors opened show up in the DIS in the centre of the dash? if so this means the micro switches are working and is more likely a CCM fault, A code read will confirm a CCM fault with a "no communuication" error.

The alarm sounding may also be due to a faulty CCM (fault code read, required) or flat battery's in the sirin unit, see a link to repair,
