    hi could anyone help,1996 a4 estate 19tdi not starting,i dont seem to have any power going to the heater plugs,or sorry if i get this wrong,fuel ignition timing solinoid fault code 01269,or the fuel cut of switch, have not got a clue were to start,any imput would be greatful, the car was running great till the alternator gave up got a reconditioned one done 50 miles and broke down puff of smoke from exaust and engine cut out

    The fuel cut-off valve is situated on the rear of the injection pump,you will see one wire runs to it,if you have ignition power on the valve,then the valve needs replacing

    Try removing the wire on the valve and run a power supply from the battery,to the valve see if the engine then starts

    Stab in dark this
    i have a 18 petrol a4 would not start ran vag com no errors
    fixed it by removing ecu from housing unpluging the two connecters and reseating them
    car fixed

    tried the live feed with no joy thanks kenney,flickflack will try that as soon as i can cheers. nw or related problem,took out injector turnedover engine no diesel came through,took off diesel pipe, again turned the engine over,very little diesel came out with no pressure,could it be the pump,

    Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition on
