Today, my car was sold in the afternoon. At first I was very excited that my car is getting sold, but now I feel kind of upset that the fact she has gone for ever The amount of money and time I spent on her was on a next level. But then again my plans weren't to keep her for too long. I have to say I am looking forward for my next car

    What were your experiences?

How did I feel after scrapping my wife’s Mk2 Golf GTI after nine great years of ownership? Gutted, that’s what I felt!

By the time I sell my cars, they are pretty well shot. I even told the bloke who bought the Passat that I have never sold a car that lasted more than a month or two. He laughed, but within four months, it was scrap too!

So, by the time I sell 'em, I'm just glad to be rid of the problems for a few years!

The only one I missed was a Maxi that I'd owned for 13 years! I really missed it when I bought the Mk2 Golf a year later and realised how much more useful the Maxi was as a load carrier. And no, the Maxi never let me down (but all my VW's have at one time or another!)

If ~£500 is on a new level, I sense you may be in for a shock with future cars, the running total on the polo is around £800 and that's just bits (ok, so the GT interior, matching tyres and engine overhaul were optional )

The golf cost me nearly £1300 to get sorted after a 12p let loose and the A4 was endless expense.

How did I feel to see those go? thankful - the polo's proven to be a very reliable little thing and I will not be selling it.

Crasher - VW and I were discussing the scrapping of your Gti, sad sad times, but what did you get her as a replacement?

When we sold our old Jade Green Mk2 Golf, it was heart breaking, especially as it was towed away on a trailor in the late evening.

The thing was a money pit though, costing more in oil than it did in fuel!

Replaced with a much shinier, more sound MK2 though!

A Mk2 is for life, not just a decade or two…

i felt happy at first but once the car had been gone a few days and its replacement(my current car) had turned up i was gutted as my old car blinded the new one in every way
but as they say onwards and upwards
"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.
