    Good Day,

    Any Ideas on the following?

I Have a A4 1.9TDi (2002) (198 000km). A week ago the ESP light only came on and stay on, the engine revs drop to just above 1000. If I try to accelerate the pedal is not responding. If I turn the ignition off and on again, everything works. Then intermittently the same problem occur.

There is no specific driving style that brings this problem. If I disable ESP and then drive, it still happens, so I figured the ESP disabling is a result of an other problem.

I try finding similar problems on the forum, but I only see ESP & ABS problems.
I didn’t get one warning about ABS.

According to posts the closest to my problem will be some yaw sensor

I took it to our local guy and he said it is the ECU the has a intermittent fault.
ECU is quite expensive just to “try”.

So I went and buy a OBD II Scanner and then I got 2 codes.

    18047 - Accelerator Position Sensor 1/2 (G79/G185): Implausible Signal

    P1639 - 35-00 - -

    01314 - Engine Control Module

79-10 - Please Check Fault Codes - Intermittent

So it tells me it’s the sensor of the pedal, and the cause the second fault, (due to the fact that the second fault read “please check fault codes” or do you think there can be something wrong with the ECU?

All other features in the car work 100%

    Kind Regards,

sounds strange to say.... But i have known the EPC light to come on with a MAF issue.. which knocks the car into limp mode.. turn off and on.. works fine again.

    Just to give feedback,

I've opened the cover on the little box on the accelerator pedal, just to find my problem, there were a few water drops condensated insite, I dried it (hair dryer - light heat) and assemble it again. It sorted my problem!

I Audi Tech that didn't close my ECU's cover properly cause the water to came in an drop on my feet after a heavy rain storm. (Not much water - but enough to make a small pudle in the connecter, and my guess is that it syfer through were the steel pins go through the plastic. The cover seals with a rubber, so it must be there (can se the white mark were the water dried)

    Hope this help someone!

    Regards,

    Francois
