Give us a few more clues: Quattro or FWD, what sort of driving - town, country, motorway?

If that's a FWD and it's general "extraurban" driving, then I'd say 31 is poor (I'm getting 29 from my 2.4 petrol)

If it's a quattro driving around town, then it's bad.

Depends on the driving you're doing too.

My last figures for my 2WD over 24hrs actual driving were, 30mph average speed and 41.8mpg.
Most of mine is never more than 5 miles at a time but I would have some long-ish runs too.

ok, for a non quattro, thats not bad but not great. you need to give us some more specs (gearbox, engine power). my quattro 180ps auto 2.5 gives 32mpg on a combined cycle which is bang on the book value.

Check out this link for mpg's

I used to get low mpg with mine, but that was because of the gearbox. With auto tip models, make sure your atf has been changed (regardless of what audi says) and it wouldnt hurt to mess around with vag codes. They do help with faster shifts.

you should be getting 39mpg. so there could be some issue. is the autobox nice and smooth?

first thing i'd do is take it on a motorway run. stick at 70mph and see what consumption you get (it should be high 30's if not 40's)... With town mileage, its hard to figure out if you are getting the best mpg.

With the tip models, they learn the way you use your right foot, and you can reset that computer...I'm not sure if the multitron has the same thing. maybe someone else can help
