    Ok, here's the problem (occassionally):

I turn on the indicators, left or right, and the hazard lights come on. The garage said it's the hazard switch and when the bloke gave it a tap, it cured it. But, then the problem started again. So, I changed the switch and thought I had fixed it but.............the problem has returned.

It doesn't happen all the time though !

    Any ideas ??

it can only be the hazard switch, or a wiring fault, possibly near the switch. for the hazards to come on with an indicator, both sides must be going live, only possible due to the above.

Well it's doing it less now so I suspect there's an iffy connection with the haz switch. I'll keep an eye on it.

Now, how do the air vents actually expell air Whatever setting I have, they just don't let any air out (well, very little anyway)......

    Drives me nuts

Sadly I need to revisit this thread as the problem has started again.

I previously changed the haz switch but to be honest, not much change.

What happens is that when I select left or right indicator, both start flashing aka hazard lights. This doesn't happen all the time but just lately seems to be more frequent.

If it's the stalk, is that an easy job to replace and could someone like me (basic skills) be in a position to install a new one (used)......

Any tips, ideas, notions or solutions are welcome !!

From memory getting the stalk cluster off is fairly straightforward. Temporarily disable airbag (if fitted), remove steering wheel and remove two screws securing upper and lower column shroud. This should expose the stalk assembly and I think they are clamped around the column using a pair of M5 dome deaded allen screws on the underside. Slacken screws, disconnect eletrical connections and slide off column. I think the stalk assembly consists of two cross bolted plates to which the separate switches (wiper, indicator and lights) are mounted on, this is where it gets a bit fiddly unless you have a complete unit to replace rather than just an individual switch. Just make sure you get the correct part and you should be alright.

Oh and please don't blame me if you knacker it and it doesn't work.
