hello there people, I am about to undertake a single din to double din conversion on my 2004 A4 S-line, have seen a step by step but that was Canadian and I was hoping to hear from somebody in the U.K! I also want to connect my Parrot CK3100 to the RNS-E that I am about to fit, but don't know what harness or leads I need to use? Any help would be appreciated!! cheers, Nattyboy.

Hi there, i don't know much in great detail but i looked into this for a friend and i understand there is A LOT of work involved - apparently all the blower / heater pipes behind the dash need moving along with just about everything else behind. I remember thinking at the time that it wasn't worth doing - but i could be wrong

    Fraid you are wrong mate.

Ive done it, it all becomes very self explanatory once you start pulling it all apart, i think i did it all in about 2 hours with no previous experience.

One thing worth noting is the climate control unit will either need replacing or trimming down, i trimmed mine down as its cheaper and if done well looks just as good, if you have a search around on here, you will find the dimensions of where you need to cut.

Dont know about the rnse conversion but if you look on ebay they sell the harnesses for about £30.

I was hoping to hear that, was quite chuffed to speak to Audi who sell the double din cage for £17 instead of £55 from ebay, I'm picking it up tomorrow so will probably attack it at the weekend, will probably use the left over money on a Dremel to trim the climate control down. In what order do the things come apart mate? I understand the centre console comes off along with the steering wheel surround?

I would personally using a junior hacksaw as you will get a much staighter cut IMO. All depends on your own skill though. I personally, took the glove box out, lift up the gear lever surround, take out the ash tray. You will then see loads of bolts dotted around, undo those, remove the piece of plastic above the switches above the stereo, remove the stereo, climate contol.

Was guide have you got to use at the moment?

EDIT: I didnt remove the steering wheel surround at all

Nice one, well done. I'll tell my mate he can buy my old 6disc changer double din off me afterall!!

May I ask, is that the Cupra R splitter on yours and is it just the 2 centre pillars that need trimming down to allow a "better" fitment?

    Many thanks in advance

No worries buddy, i only know because i installed the 6 disc double din unit into mind, and was just a case of trimming part of the centre console behind the stereo, took about 5 minutes to do, and swapping the cage over.

It is indeed, if you have got a brand new one, just cut all of the clips off, and yes i did chop down the two centre pillars or else it pushes the splitter down in the middle.

I knocked the first one off on a curb so got it looking much better the second time round lol

Yes I imagine it is. B6 & B7 interiors are practically identical.
