I have just signed up on an order for a new Polo with the RCD 510 stereo and the multifunction steering wheel. I considered to include the "GSM preparation" package too, to have a handsfree communication with a mobile phone. But when I discovered that in addition to the GSM preparation package, I would have to have a VW Bluetooth adapter hanging on my dashboard to facilitate the communication, I abandoned the idea. I do not like any extra gadgets hanging around in my interiour, and especially not in a brand new car!

So, then, I heard about Kufatec and FISCON.

I sent a question directly to Kufatec in Germany, who replied that no FISCON systems are available yet for the new Polo.

Actually, I thought that the FISCON system was available for the stereo RCD 510 in general, on all VW's. Is it really so that the FISCON system is car-specific rather than audio system-specific?

Still, a later reply said that I would need the FISCON product# 36496. http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_i...sic-Plus-.html

So, if I take the latest reply from Kufatec as a confirmation that "FISCON Basic Plus" indeed will work with the RCD510 in the new Polo, will I still need the "GSM preparation" package from the VW, but without the VW Bluetooth adapter?
I guess what is in the "GSM preparation" package is wiring and a speaker hidden somewhere (the information I got from VW about this was rather thin, and they did not have any cars in the exhibition with it, either)

I have already put my Polo on order, but I still have 10 more days to add any extra options, like the "GSM preparation" to the car, if that should be necessary.

If I have understood the product description correctly, a feature of the FISCON package is to provide an invisible interface between my mobile phone and the car, no extra adapters or devices hanging on the dashboard or elsewhere in my interior, right?

From what I have read on this forum, it seems like the installation is fairly simple, so no need to scramble the VW dealer to do it, or what?
