    Hi All,

Considering having mine mapped and wondered if anyone here has a long term experience of a mapped A6. I have the 2.0Tdi S-line Multitronic.

I have had a previous car (Fiat Grande Punto Sporting)mapped from 130bhp to 170 bhp and had some issues with that (3 new turbos to be exact...all replaced by the dealer!)

Does anyone have reports, positive or negative with regard to longevity and MPG. I have pretty wowful MPG at present (36.6, 90% of my journeys being motorway, dealer insists this is "within tolerance"), so looking to improve that a bit too.

    Cheers for any help

    Paul

Had mine done about 2 months ago now so a bit too early to tell, but average 42mpg on a 80 - 90mph run, about 34mpg if it is all urban.

The wife's A3 has been done for about 4 years now, and it has done over 50k miles since then, all ok so far.

The A6 was done by Mark at Chip n Spin at one of the days he does in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. £250 all in. The A3 was done by AMD.

I was warned about damage to the driveshafts on the A3 by one trader I know, but I have never had any issues or sign of wear.

The mpg has improved slightly on the A6 since having it done, but not by a lot, maybe 5% at a push, but as I can get high 30's / low 40's I am happy enough with that side of the car already.

Thanks for the responses, does your A6 have the DPF? Done a bit of reading on the net and Beemer owners have reported problems.

DPF - is that the filter ??

I haven't heard of any issues in all honesty, nor have I experienced any. I thought any issues with the filter were because it was being treated too gently

Autocar were running a Skoda Superb (what a name !?!) I think, anyway they kept getting the light up and were told that the car was subject to too much gentle and town driving, hence was 'sooting up'.

    I've never had that problem

I had mine(2.0TDi Manual 2006) done, at the chip and spin day in December at Bromsgrove. Significantly more power which is good for towing the caravan. MPG slightly better but it does seem the since the remap the dash computer tells porkies about the MPG, overestimating by about 7MPG. I never noticed this beforehand and am not particularly attributing this to the remap, just an observation. No other problems though and I have been very pleased. I did notify my insurance company who were fine about it but did charge £30 for the policy change.
    Regards
    Gary
