Need someone who owns or has access to a 99 Bora 2.0 sport to take a look at the speed sensor on the gearbox.

I had the speedo stop working and the spark messed up the repair. The wiring loom was exposed running from the speed sensor. It had then began rubbing the block and shorted so he cut the plug. Before he rewired it he managed to lose it, he has wired up a plug from, frankly I dont know what VW with completely different coloured wires.

There are 3 original wires from the ECU, blue/white, brown and black white. The replacement plug is black, brown and brown/white.

All I need to know is what colour goes to the positive, the A and the negative on the sensor from the original loom so I can fix this myself as the original sparky is a muppet.

The sensor is in the top of the gearbox just behind the head about 2 foot down. There is a 3 pin plug with a rubber neck, this plug can be easily pulled out (when car is switched off - you do not need to remove the sensor). On the top of the plug the wires will enter three points numbered 1,2 and 3 all I need to know is what wire goes with each number, and if the numbers 1,2 and 3 are at the top of the plug when fitted correctly.

If you could do this for me it would be very much appreciated, but, if you are not confident in doing so, please dont. Dont want you putting your bora off the road to help me!

    Cheers Everyone!

    Some pictures to help.

The pic titled overview shows where in the engine bay the speed sensor is located.

The pic titled speed sensor shows the component itself as you would see it in the engine bay.

The pic titled plug 1 shows the lead which attaches to the speed sensor, notice it has a rubber cover at the neck of the plug. This peels back to reveal the back of the plug and its connections. The proper plug will have a hard plastic surround as it is a female attachment.

The pic titled plug 2 shows the rubber neck removed to reveal the wires and their corresponding numbers, this is all the information I need. What colour wire matches what number.

    Cheers lads
