I'm getting a DIS warnign that the washer bottle level is low, when it's not.

It only happens intermittently, so I'm presuming that it's either loose wiring or a dodgy float switch.

Is there any way to check this, or should I just remove the washer bottle and test the wiring and switch. It there an easy way to get the bottle out, or will I have to remove the PAS fluid reservoir etc. first?

I'll have a look in the manual later to see if it's easy, but I thought I'd ask advice aswell.

I did a fault scan yesterday and showed no faults.

I had this problem on my Dad's Passat recently and it turned out to be the water level switch. It's not a float switch but works on measuring resistance to determine level of water.
Not sure where the washer reservoir is on the A6 but on the passat it was behind the bumper on the l/h side.

I'd figured that it might be the switch. I had a look at the manual last night, and it seems that the washer bottle isn't too difficult to get out, but does need the wheel and wheelarch liner removing!

    It's just a pain that it's intermittent.

You could try recoding the Instrument cluster so that it doesn't include the level sensor. Not sure if that works.
Just until you get around to changing the sensor.....
