VAGCOM - struggling to get working

Hi all. Bought a USB interface as used by some people on here. downloaded VAGCOM 409.1. USed setup and Test and interface apparently working OK.

Trying to read fault codes etc, VAGCOM trys and retrys for several seconds, then says 'no response from controller'. Keys are in and ignition on.

Car is a 2000 Audi A4 Avant (S4).

Any clues please?

I had my radio out and it lost its 'BOSE' setting. Need to reactivate Bose.

It sounds like the third party cable may be causing some of the communication problems. You could find someone in the local area with a genuine Ross-Tech system to scan it and see if it is the car or the cable.

Can you communicate to any installed modules on the vehicle as listed here

As of April first, VCDS-Lite has replaced 409 and can be downloaded here.
