Can anyone tell me why the 12 month old car I have just bought has such a low MPG. Book states
    Urban Fuel 38.7 mpg
    Extra Urban 62.8 mpg
    Combined 51.4 mpg

I can only get 28 round town and 35 with steady driving at 60mph.

    Thanks

I'm getting an average 35mpg out of my 1.2 and that's from a mainly a 10 mile run in to work in 5th most of the way and the occasional motorway run. There doesn't seem to be any Extra Urban roads down this way
Town driving can be quite low especially if a lot of stop starts and short trips especially from cold

I get 44mpg from my 2002 9n, with the 65PS 1.2 12v engine. I thrash the poor thing! That's a mix of the 7 mile town drive to work, and regular Salisbury-Bristol journeys, which often involve lots of slow traffic, especially around Bath.

44MPG - Would be great compared with the 28mpg we are getting.

The VW garage have told us that there is nothing wrong with the Car. I have even plugged in a VAG unit and can see no faults with the engine.
However, I have no idea what to look for on the VAG to see fuel consumption. I am not sure their is a block to look at for this.

Can any one help with this.

    Thanks
