About a year ago my horn sounded for a second as I drove along, its been fine since but Thursday it did it about 6 times, caused panic in Salisbury's Service Station!
Is this a common problem, a search came up blank, is the horn controlled by the CCM (hope not) or is it just a switch, relay and fuse circuit?

Had this a few years ago, poor or faulty connection to switch in steering wheel, might be worth letting a pro take a look as there could be an issue with the air bag when opening the steering wheel

It will be a faulty contact reel for the horn behing the steering wheel. Airbag needs to be removed to pull steering wheel off. Also should have some brushes on the back of the steering wheel which can wear out and jump contacts.

I checked last weekend, the clocksprings were fine and all the insulation was intact on the wiring, I was putting it back together when I decided to look behind the rubber-mounted weight in the center of the wheel, I found a 20mm length of wire, I can only assume this was floating around and shorting the horn plate to the contact springs. There are no brushes on my steering wheel, the clock springs do this function. Strange thing I had a flat battery on Saturday morning and assumed it was due to the horn problem (not leaking enough to sound the horn but pulling the battery down). This assumption was proved totally false as I charged the battery off the car and when I tried starting it the output dropped straight down to 2VDC, replaced the battery, just £90, all now fine.
