Well its a bit strange as it shows the U strip on its own and it actually shows 2 vent grilles. 1 says vent grille and 1 says vent grille with chrome trim strip.

How much did the "vent grille with chrome" cost for parts only.

I'm looking forward to an answer here as i'm planning on doing the same!

has anyone else done anything like this?! if so how much was the parts?
Yes I was the same as you wanting the front end to have that little extra.
However, the lower grill has to be replaced with a new one that has the
necessary slots for the chrome work.
    Per my invoice:
    Part Number: SK0853671RYP GRILL £54.45
    Labour £26.40
    VAT £14.15
    Total £95.00

Only positive is how much better the front end looks, and you get your
old grill back! But as usual with VW its a tad expensive.

i'd consider that more an inconvenience than a good thing.

If VW were true to their environmental responsibilities they'd offer a token amount as a part ex to ensure the old part was recycled correctly.

An SK number isn't that Skoda? VW are normally 1K/5K/9K or is it a typo?

£26.40 for labour is pretty cheap... It'll buy you about 15 minutes, so I would think it would be pretty easy to do yourself.

    I make it 5K0 853 671 RYP - £63.80

So it must be a typo? Mine is with VAT.

I got the part from VW for £63ish including VAT.

The front bumper needs to be taken off to fit it, paid £30 inc VAT job done.
