    Hi people,
I'm new to this forum malarky but I have a niggle and wondered if anyone could help or advise!?
All of my alarm and central locking functions work but when I open the vehicle via fob, open the door and leave it open the alarm arms again after 60 seconds even though I have opened the door, is this supposed to happen as I thought it was only the case if no doors were opened?
I have also noticed that the two switches in the door holdal do not light up if I pull them which could be a clue to a fault!?
    Any clues, ideas gratefully appreciated.
Oh and where are the interior light switches in the doors?

When you open the door do you get the open door symbol on the dash ?
the light switches are built into the door lock.
Wires in the loom between the door and the "A" pillar are known to break.

    scan the car for faults.
check the loom for broken wires, between the drivers door and the "A" pillar.
Also check the front passenger footwell for damp.

And that link is for a Golf, you have an Audi.
A fault scan could help pin down the problem

It seems this problems is quite common with VW and audi so I took a look at my central locking module in one door, the out come was not good :0(
basically inside the black electronic gear module there is a small
motor, two cherry micro switches on a small pcb and one micro switch Fly wired to the mechanical catch which engages with the door pillar.
There is a six pin plug that controls the module and pin 4 had coroded like you would see with an old set of batteries, basically a write off as the pin had disintergrated, I tried to bridge the gap with solder iron but no meat left, bizzarly all the other pins were fine!!
Anyone know where you can find these control modules?
Nb not an easy job at all very fidley and typical good audi engineering where nothing comes apart without loosing knuckles!!
