Hiya, I've just been on the roadside with the AA man for about an hour and a half after my turbo pipe had popped off on my A3 2.0 TDI 6 speed manual.

I was exiting the A419 when I changed down to 3rd gear and heard a single pop noise, the car then starting juddering as I continued up the slip road. I pulled over, called the AA and after he pulled it forward a little and revved it (lots of smoke) he immediately reckoned it was an air pipe somewhere. We drove it to the nearest quiet road (again, very juddery, almost as though it wasn't getting enough revs) and he jacked it up. Turns out it's the turbo pipe from the intercooler that had popped off. He tried sealing it with a jubilee clip, but popped off again not 100 metres down the road. We pulled over again, and he fitted another jubilee clip but this time angled it slightly to give it a better grip. I haven't driven it above 35mph out of 4th gear to know if it goes into limp mode. It drove perfectly fine before the pipe popped off.

My problem is this is the 4th thing that's gone wrong with my car (after service in March) since I've decided to sell it and I'm getting fed up with the bills. The reason for me selling it is to get some money together for a deposit on a house. And each time I get something fixed, something else goes wrong!!! It's been fine for the 2 years I've had it, and it's making me start to think twice about Audi's, which is a shame as I absolutely love my car.

Would anyone happen to know the part number for the turbo pipe? It's a flexipipe, and the AA man said it runs from the turbo to the intercooler. Sorry, but that's all I know. I need to get this done as cheaply as possible so a pattern part would do fine, but not sure how easy it would be to find one? Many thanks for any help on this.

I took it to the Audi garage in the end just to get a quote which was £60 all-in. Rang a few places who said that that's quite a good quote from Audi and could only really beat it by a couple of quid. They charged me minimal labour AND I got a complimentary car wash and hoover, which I've never had before other than when it's been in for a service. So I didn't even need to clean/hoover it myself when it came to selling it.

    I do miss her though
