I've just bought a 2002 A4 Avant and noticed today that the radio stops working after a while. To get it to work again you have to turn the car off completely and leave it for a minute or two and it will start working again although not for very long.

I've searched through the forums so similar issues but couldnt really find anyone that has posted a similar issue although there seems to be a few threads regarding signal amplifiers. Not sure if that is related to my issue though Anyone got any ideas what the problem is please?

Does your radio switch itself off or just lose the signal.
You could scan for faults to see if there are any problems

It just seems to lose signal. It's really strange though because when you scan through the frequesncies after it stops working, it still seems to turn in to stations and display the RDS name....

Any idea how i can scan for faults? Unfortuantely i did not get a handbook or audio guide with the car.

    Many thanks

Look in the vagcom section for a member in your area willing to scan the car.
You could get a manual from the dealer or maybe Ebay.
