I have ordered a new Polo SE 1.6 TDI 75PS which is going to take an age to be delivered but I was prepared to wait. I see on the official VW site it shows this engine is no longer available in the SE and the only Diesel Polos are now the 1.2 in the bluemotion model and the 90ps TDI in the top of the range SEL. I am not happy and considering cancelling the order. I don't want to buy a discontinued model.

Anyone else know anything about this?

It's exactly the same engine as the 90ps, only de-tuned slightly (it's also the same as the 105ps one, in the Golf amongst others). I think it was temporarily discontinued or replaced by the Bluemotion. It's still available in Germany (and annoyingly, so is a 'Bluemotion technology' 1.6 TDi with 90ps... I'd love that here in the UK!)

1.6 TDi 75 is no longer produced. I've posted my thoughts on this on AutoCar http://www.autocar.co.uk/forums/t/13354.aspx

Update- The 1.2 TDI 75PS is now available in the Polo in SE trim. Wish they'd do the 'Bluemotion' 90PS 1.6 and the 105PS 1.6... and have it available in all the trim levels too!

Thanks for the update. I am particularly annoyed that my dealer must have known of this change in diesel engine options when I ordered the 1.6Tdi.
    Nothing was mentioned.
I don't know whether to make a fuss and ask for the order to be changed to the 1.2 (non bluemotion.) I am not interested in the bluemotion as I live in a rural area and don't think the stop start function would be of much benefit.

    Any advice for the confused.
