Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction here. My A6 Avant has the 'tyre pressure monitoring' system which is working fine with my 16" wheels. I'm thinking of changing them to 18" (non Audi) wheels and was wondering if this was possible whilst still being able to use the TPMS? I believe there are 2 types of system: 1. through the ABS system and 2. with a sensor inside the tyre. Anyone got any experience? Thanks. Ross

    Hi Ross,

Which TPMS system does your car have? If it is the system that uses the ABS sensors, you should simply be able to fit your new wheels then go through the 'Learn' process to set the baseline in the system for your new wheels/tyres. If it is not this system, you will need to find out where the transmitters are in each wheel and make sure they are moved across to your new wheels. I suspect they may be in the valves.

The ABS system does not monitor tyre pressure , it monitors any difference in the rolling radius of each wheel relative to each other - a big difference !
