I have a 2000 tdi 115 pd. I can hear a clicking sound when stationary behind the glove box. i believe this is a faulty airflap motor ? Rather than spend hundreds of pounds getting it fixed, will this cause long term problems if I leave it be and put up with it ? Or is it something i should get fixed straight away ?

    any advice would be helpful

    thanks

I this fault happens to everyone sooner or later. I'd just put up with it, mine is stuck open which suits me fine, it it was stuck closed, I'd probaby try and yank it open with a coat hanger. Try putting some fragrance on the pollen filter and see if you can smell it in the car if you aren't sure.

Has anyone changed one of these?

Mine has gone and have the replacement, just not had time to look at it.

I reset mine with a VAG COM and it sorted my flap motor out. Below was the error it showed up

No more clicking and no more hot air only moments.

I've done the clear codes, etc in Vag-Com but it just comes back.

Does it really involve taking the whole dash out as I've read? Is there no other way? I have already bought the replacement motor, cost about Ł70.

And I had half the dash out a month or so ago to retro-fit Cruise Control...

Have you tried this with your VAG COM:

    Flap Motor Reset
    08 Heater/A.C
    04 Basic settings
    Channel 000 (30 Secs)
    001 (30 Secs)
    002 (30 Secs)

Yeah, you need to take the full dash out, discharge the aircon and remove a ruddy big metal cross member from behind the dash too. And you still can't see the thing!

    I'll try the vag-com reset

Wish the ******* had told me how difficult it was before I offloaded Ł70 to them

Someone took the glovebox out, poked around, cut a wire and all was well again. I'll dig out the post.

    After some digging;
