I wasn't sure where to post this, but there's an area on the passenger door where the lacquer has worn off and it feels rough. The car has just been to Audi for a service and they said this wasn't covered by any warranty.

Is this true? I thought there was a warranty against paintwork defects and corrosion?

It certainly should be covered, it is after all a two part paint finish cant have one without the other, I think I would be making a fuss so as not to be fobbed off.

They said that the bodywork warranty which is 12 years covers corrosion only, and the lacquer problem is only covered by the manufacturers 3 year warranty.

A bit gutted because I noticed it before the 3 years was up but I assumed it was covered by the 12 year warranty so was in no rush.

Called Audi UK and they said I should get a quote for repair and provided the car has an Audi service history and bought from Audi they might be able to help me out.

Ahh, Yes I see whilst strictly correct keep up the pressure I think is the best plan, gently at first but gradually winding up till you get sorted.

I would suspect this didnt happen overnight so the condition probably pre-existed the end of the warranty that might be a useful approach also.

Good luck, try to stay calm and focused and dont give up
