MIL continues to Illuminate. This was checked out with the fuel vapour recovery system valves been replaced, the fuel filler cap being replaced but after the MIL had been off for a few days, it came on again. Repeat check with my local garage's diagnostic computer suggested another 'code' but again, after a few days of being off, that darned MIL light on the panel is on again!

Is this an overly sensitive light that goes on with random 'codes' being indicated as the cause? Is this problem which has happened to other 2003Audi A4 Quatro owners?

Also, how does the car feel and drive, all ok?

The car is the 1.8 quattro. The code that keeps coming on is for the fuel system vapour recovery system. I've replaced the valves in the system and the fuel cap - light is off for a few days then... bingo! On again! Car runs fine and the problem doesn't seem to occur following refuelling. any suggestions?

I don't know much about the 1.8's I'm afraid, but I have a friend who does, I'll ask him tomorrow (whilst we take apart a 9N Polo!)

If you can get the actual fault code number rather than description then one of us may
be able to look it up for you

    Thanks,
I will check with my friendly service guy, Rich, who has to keep re-setting the MIL. It has to do with recyclying vapours from the fuel tank, that's what I've been told. Valves in the circuit and fuel cap have been replaced. I will ask for the actual code next time it goes on. Currently, MIL is staying off and fingers are crossed!
