I have today picked up an Audi A4 Avant (1999). It is not clear from service book if cam belt changed. Anyone know a good garage in hertfordshire. Anyone been too Hitchin Audi or can you recommend a good independent.

Finally how much am i looking at?

    Thank you in advance

You are looking around £450 and I would have them do the water pump at the same time and pulleys.

Just had my 2.8 cambelt done including water pump and full service, plus a couple of niggles for £560 at an independant garage.

Thank you for your helpful comments. I have 'phoned around today and an independent Audi specialist has quoted £290 ish and they will check water pump.

Forget checking it just replace it as it's cheaper than replacing later because its another camb belt change job.
