hi all the time as come to replace the front discs and pads on my car at the moment it is standard 288mm discs i was thinking of upgrading to the 312mm discs i know its the same calipers and pads but what i need is the larger caliper carriers do any of you know where i can buy these from and roughly how much i can expect to pay . also as anyone done this upgrade and is it worth it i have already got 17" wheels on so there is no issue with clearance so i thought as i have to buy discs and pads it would be a good time to do it your thoughts would be very much appreciated

I recently did 288 to 312mm brakes. My old brakes were SHOT so i never really knew what they were like as i only had the car 3 weeks.

Mine are still bedding in and there ok but not stunning. I guess I will know after few hundred miles only done 200miles on them so far.

I got my carriers off ebay found a guy selling full set of discs/pads/calipers/carriers from a 3ltr A4 Avant. I didn't use the pads as the sensor cable was shot but the discs are pratically brand new but I already bought Pagid discs and pads from eurocarparts, so If you wants the 312mm discs i got with the kit from ebay make me an offer. Carriers arent that easy to find that much I can say!

DBSK - If someone wants my 312mm setup for there A4 and pays me £200 I'll take your kit. lol

So does anyone know the part or a person selling the brackets to go from 288 to 312mm discs? i had 312mm on my Leon Cupra, and thought they were more than up to the job, even with 240bhp i never got brake fade.

Does any body have a 220mm set up there trying to sell?

I have told my insurance company I am fitting big brakes and they dropped my insurance from £950 to £550ish !!

Aparently, its cheaper for me to drive a modifyed A4 than a std one!?

hi mate i presume you are talking about upgrading your front discs . if so even the 1.6 a4 had 280mm front discs so are you sure you want a 220mm upgrade or do you mean you want to upgrade to 288 mm

Sorry, no, I ment 320mm !! doh. and yeah, the front's.

Ive got 312mm's on my Fabia vRS and there fine for a small car, but wanted something abit bigger for the Avant.

BTW, ive got a Audi A4 Avant Quattro Sport TDi (mouthfull), its the B6 version (2002-2005).

With a Quattro do you not have to upgrade all 4 brakes? as far as I know the brakes on each wheel are the same, it is only on the 2 wheel drive cars where the rear is different from the front.

    I couyld be wrong here.

    Walter.
