Audi say all their Tdi engines can accept 5% biodiesel.
Normal Diesel at a Shell garage (not the V Power stuff) is quoted as having up to 8% Biodiesel.

Anyone know how this rationalises ?

Yeah, I also noticed that Morrison's diesel is 6% biodiesel. I'm sure that UK diesel has to contain a certain minimum amount of biodiesel by law. Not sure how this squares with Audi's recommendations.

Interesting point raised. My 2.7 says "not for bio-diesel" inside the fuel cap. I thought it meant don't put any type of bio-diesel in and have been avoiding it like the plague.

That is correct but not true bio fuel anything 15% or more is a no no i.e. E85 and B30 (Orange pump at Morrisons)

Volkswagen, SEAT, Audi and Skoda all approved their cars built from 1996-2004 running on 100% RME biodiesel – that is biodiesel made from rapeseed – on the condition that it meets specification EN14214

10% and under should be fine I imagine. Mine runs beautifully on Kerosene though! It shouldn't according to manufacturer but it seems fine so far, Takes a bit of starting when it's very cold so I sometimes switch to 70/30 mix (30% diesel) in winter.
